He began his clarinet studies with F. Guzmán and Pere Benítez, his teachers in the Sabadell Conservatory, continuing with Queral Roca in the Terrassa Conservatory. He has been awarded with an honor degree in intermediate level of clarinet. He has also taken clarinet classes with Josep Foster and Joan Pere Gil and received accordion tuition from Francesc Marimon and Cati Plana.
In the classical music circle he’s been a member of the Youth Orchestra of Sant Cougat (1991-1997) conducted by Josep Ferré, also member of the Auditorium Quintet and currently member of the Sabadell Band since 1991 where he directs the Charanga and Youth bands.
In other musical fields, Daniel has also been a member of different root bands like Xot (winners of the ‘Sona9’ award in 2001); Orkestina (klezmer music and Eastern folk band with 2 albums released); and Dumbala Canalla (2000-2011), a successful well known band with Klezmer and Eastern influences with a long carrer of live shows in Catalunya and festivals in Spain, France, Portugal and Italy. Some prestigious and memorable live concerts of Dumbala Canalla were in Sala L’Espai (Barcelona 2001), El mercat de Musica Viva (Vic, 2001), Festus de Torelló (2002), Fira Mediterrania de Manresa where they presented their first álbum (2005), Cuneo (Italia), the live show in the Opening of the Winter Olympic Games in mountain areas, Fiestas Mayores de la Mercé de Gracia, Tarragona and Reus. The la Pelouse en Tuïr Festival in France, the Closing Event of Correllengua 2006 in Perpignan. They were also chosen for the Artists on the Road Tour (IAE) in 2007 giving concerts through Spain (Madrid, Toledo, Valencia, Cádiz, Zaragoza). Dumbala Canalla’s first álbum is considered as one of the best of 2005 in the popular music category according to Folc Magazine. Dumbala Canalla release their second album ‘M’enfango’ in 2008.
Daniel was a member too and composer of the catalán-french band La Fanfarria Transfrontallière de l’amor, also with klezmer and balcanic influences.
He has collaborated in various bands of different styles within popular music like Pomada, Youkalis, Flam & Co, and recorded with Obrint Pas, Pomada, Xerramequ tiquismiquis, Ayvala, La Carrau, Amanda Jayne, Landry el Rumbero among others.
Currently he is part of the Landry el Rumbero show (a rumba entertainment show for kids) and the Petita Festa band, based in popular musics like rumba, cumbia or brazilian forró.
Daniel combines his music activity with education, and nowadays he’s a clarinet teacher at the Barberà del Vallès Music School since 2008.
